Spring is near!

With winter slowly starting to fade, the creek bed starts to show its face once again. I took a drive to one of my newly favored wild trout streams to survey the ice melt.

There were pockets here and there but this is pretty much the scene througout the watershed. For now.

My friend Jared and myself stumbled upon this gem mid-summer last year on a whim. We figured it would entail the typical 6-8" brookies..... So we thought anyhow

The picture above was one that we encountered after catching multiple brookies in that 6-8" said range, when BAM! a wild brown was produced.

It was one of them moments when we said, alright lets find one bigger since we know there are some in here!

Between royal wulffs on top and green weenies sub-surface we had it covered.

Next up, this hole looked promising. Roots and under-banks are a good spot for a likely ambush. It quickly produced a pair of browns

it stayed pretty steady with a good mix of brooks and browns as it was getting late in the day, and having no clue what lied ahead. We pushed forward.. with the stream getting smaller and smaller.

One of the last fish we caught was this super healthy brown. It was a fighter and holding in a stretch of a 3 foot wide run.

This is a great way to spend the late spring early summer. Find an overlooked stream and beat feet.

You never know what gems you will find in the gaps of these mountains.
